Overview

Book a 7-day private Rajasthan tour. Explore Amber Fort in Jaipur, Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, Ranakpur Jain Temple, & Lake Pichola in Udaipur with private driver.

A week is enough to feel the range of Rajasthan if the route is chosen with care. This journey uses three cities that each show a different side of the state: Jaipur for its palaces and bazaars, Jodhpur for its enormous fort above a maze of blue-washed lanes, and Udaipur for its lakes and courtyards.

You travel by private car with a driver, spend two nights in each city, and stop at the Ranakpur Jain temples between Jodhpur and Udaipur. Sightseeing is guided, but the days leave room for markets, viewpoints and unhurried evenings.

It suits first-time visitors to Rajasthan, couples and families who want a full picture of the state without a long holiday, and returning travellers who want a compact loop.

Day 1Arrival in Jaipur

You are met on arrival in Jaipur and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free. An evening walk through the local markets is a good introduction to the city, or you may ask about a cultural evening at Chokhi Dhani, a village-style venue known for Rajasthani music, dance and food.

Day 2Jaipur: Palaces, Forts and an Observatory

The morning belongs to Amber Fort, a hilltop fort-palace above the old capital of the Kachwaha rulers. On the drive back you stop for photographs at Jal Mahal on Man Sagar Lake.

In the city, the City Palace houses museums and courtyards still linked to the royal family, and Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO-listed collection of astronomical instruments, shows the scientific ambitions of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Hawa Mahal, the honeycombed Palace of Winds, completes the central sights.

For sunset, Nahargarh Fort offers a view across the city, and the bazaars stay open into the evening.

The main stop is Ranakpur, where the marble Jain temple, dedicated to Adinatha, is known for its 1,444 individually carved pillars. Non-Jain visitors are admitted from around midday, so the timing of the drive is planned around it.

Questions about this tour

Is 7 days enough for Rajasthan?

It is enough for a satisfying introduction based on three cities. Travellers who also want Jaisalmer’s desert or extra stops such as Pushkar should consider a longer itinerary.

Why these three cities?

Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur each show a different side of Rajasthan: palaces and bazaars, a huge fort above a blue old city, and a lakeside setting.

How long is the drive from Jaipur to Jodhpur?

About 340 km, or 5 to 6 hours by road depending on traffic and stops.

What is at Ranakpur?

A large marble Jain temple, dedicated to Adinatha, known for its 1,444 carved pillars. It is visited on the way from Jodhpur to Udaipur.

Is the boat ride on Lake Pichola included?

It is offered as an optional experience. Please confirm before booking.

Where does the tour begin and end?

It begins in Jaipur and ends in Udaipur with an airport transfer.

Which meals are included?

Breakfast at the hotels. Lunches and dinners are not part of the tour cost.

Is it suitable for families?

Yes, with the note that two of the days involve long drives. Please tell your consultant if you are travelling with young children.

When is the best time to take this tour?

October to March is the most comfortable season for Rajasthan, with warm to mild days and cool evenings; desert nights can be cold in December and January. April to June is very hot, with temperatures often above 40°C in the desert cities, and July to September is monsoon season, when the landscape is green but travel can be slower. Book early for October to February, the busiest months.

How much does this tour cost?

The price depends on the season, hotel category, group size and any optional extras. Send us your dates and preferences and we will prepare a tailored quote with everything itemised.

Can the itinerary be customised?

Yes. Hotels, pace, extra nights and optional stops can all be adjusted. Speak to your travel consultant before booking.
