About Maharaja Tour India
Your Trusted Private Tour Operator in Agra Designing Bespoke, Private Journeys Across India for International Travelers.
A tour operator from Agra, planning journeys across India
Maharaja Tour India is a registered tour operator based in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. We design and run private India tours: journeys where you have your own vehicle and driver, licensed local guides at the major sights, and an itinerary that belongs to you rather than to a fixed departure date.
Agra shapes the way we work. The city sits at the centre of India's most-travelled route, with Delhi to the north, Jaipur and Rajasthan to the west, and the Taj Mahal on our doorstep. We know its rhythms as locals do: that it closes every Friday, that sunrise brings the softest light and the smallest crowds, and how much a well-timed morning changes the experience. That same attention to timing goes into every route we plan, wherever it leads.
We focus on the parts of India we know well: Delhi and the Golden Triangle, the forts, lake cities and desert of Rajasthan, and South India, from Kerala's backwaters to the temple towns of Tamil Nadu and the heritage of Karnataka. Some of our guests are flying in for their first visit; others live in India and want a holiday that simply runs well.
You deal with us directly, from your first message to the day you leave, without a chain of agents in between. The people who plan your trip are the same people you can reach while you are on it, which keeps communication clear and decisions quick.
Every guest of ours is treated like royalty. That is the promise in our name.

How we plan an India journey
A good itinerary in India depends less on how much it contains than on how well the days fit together. These are the things we think about before we send you a plan.
We start with you, not a route
Before suggesting a single city, we ask about the things that decide whether a trip works: how many days you have, who is travelling, what you enjoy, and how much walking and heat suit you. The tours on our site are starting points. Any of them can be shortened, extended, slowed down or rebuilt from scratch as a customised India tour.
Pacing that respects the distances
Distances in India look shorter on a map than they feel on the road. Delhi to Agra is roughly three and a half to four hours by expressway, and the drive on to Jaipur is longer again. We leave time to arrive, rest and see each place properly, rather than filling every hour of every day.
Your own car and driver throughout
An air-conditioned vehicle with an experienced driver stays with you for the whole tour, so you choose the start time each morning and can stop when something catches your eye. You can read more about car and driver hire in India.
Guides who can explain what you are seeing
Licensed local guides join you at the major sights. A good guide does more than recite dates: they explain why a Mughal emperor built in white marble, or why a Rajput fort sits where it does. Find out more about our local guides.
Hotels chosen for where they are, as well as what they are
From comfortable city hotels to heritage havelis and palace hotels, we weigh location, comfort and cleanliness alongside style. You will know the name of every hotel before you confirm. Our accommodation standards explain how we choose them.
The practical details, handled early
Monument closing days, festival dates, train timings, the best time of day for each sight and what you can carry into the Taj Mahal. We plan around these in advance, so they never become problems on the day.
Destinations we help travellers explore
Where we work, what each place is best for, and how much time to give it.
Delhi
Usually one to two days
India's capital, and where most international journeys begin. We usually suggest a full day: Old Delhi's bazaars and Jama Masjid in the morning, Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub Minar later, with time left for Delhi's food. A day here after a long-haul flight also helps with jet lag before the road trip begins.
Delhi travel guideAgra and the Taj Mahal
A same-day trip from Delhi, or one to two nights
Our home city. Beyond the Taj Mahal there is Agra Fort, the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, often called the Baby Taj, and the Mehtab Bagh gardens across the Yamuna, with Fatehpur Sikri on the road towards Jaipur. Plan the Taj for sunrise if you can, and remember it is closed on Fridays.
Visiting AgraTaj Mahal toursThe Golden Triangle
Three to ten days
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur form a loop of manageable drives, and together give the most complete first introduction to North India's history and architecture. Five to six days lets each city breathe; a week or more leaves room for an extension to Ranthambore, Udaipur or Varanasi.
Golden Triangle toursJaipur travel guideRajasthan
Seven to fifteen days
Jaipur's forts and bazaars, Jodhpur beneath Mehrangarh Fort, Udaipur's lakes and palaces, and Jaisalmer's golden sandstone fort on the edge of the Thar Desert. Distances are long, so we plan Rajasthan around fewer, longer stops. October to March is the most comfortable season.
Rajasthan travel guideRajasthan toursSouth India
Six to fourteen days
A different pace altogether: Kerala's backwaters and tea hills, the great temple towns of Tamil Nadu, and the heritage of Karnataka. South India works on its own or after a week in the north, joined by a short domestic flight to Kochi or Chennai.

Ways to travel with us
Every journey we plan is private. Within that, trips take many shapes, from a single day at the Taj Mahal to three weeks across the country.
Private India tours
No coach groups and no strangers sharing your vehicle. Your tour runs on your dates, at your pace.
Golden Triangle tours
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, with optional extensions to Ranthambore, Udaipur, Varanasi, Pushkar or Amritsar.
Taj Mahal and Agra tours
Same-day trips from Delhi by car or the Gatimaan Express, sunrise and full-moon visits, or an overnight stay with Fatehpur Sikri.
Rajasthan tours
Forts, palaces and desert over one to two weeks, from classic heritage circuits to quieter, less-travelled routes.
South India tours
Kerala's backwaters and hills, temple journeys through Tamil Nadu, and longer routes across Karnataka and Kerala.
Luxury and heritage travel
Palace hotels, restored havelis and a slower rhythm, for travellers who want comfort to be part of the experience.
Cultural and special interest tours
Journeys built around a theme: North Indian food, spiritual India, wildlife and tiger safaris, or women-only travel.
Custom and family journeys
Multi-city routes designed from scratch for couples, families, friends and small groups, including trips that join North and South India.
Planning your own route? We also offer car and driver hire on its own, and same-day tours for travellers short on time.
