Book an 11-day private Rajasthan tour. Experience tiger safaris at Ranthambore & Sariska, birdwatching at Bharatpur, plus Jaipur, Taj Mahal, & Delhi heritage sites.
Rajasthan’s history is well known, but its wild places are just as memorable. This eleven-day journey pairs the region’s heritage with three protected areas: Sariska Tiger Reserve, Ranthambore National Park and the wetlands of Keoladeo National Park at Bharatpur.
You travel by private car from Delhi through Sariska, Jaipur, Ranthambore and Bharatpur to Agra, then return to Delhi. Wildlife days start early and end by mid-afternoon, and the cultural days are given to Jaipur, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra and Delhi.
It suits families, photographers and nature lovers who want to see tigers and birds but do not want to miss the forts and monuments that define the region.
You are greeted at Delhi airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.
After breakfast you drive about 200 km to the Sariska area, 4 to 4.5 hours away. The rest of the day is at leisure at the lodge, with the forest close at hand.
Early in the morning you enter Sariska Tiger Reserve by open jeep with a naturalist. After the safari you have breakfast and continue to Jaipur, where you arrive later in the day.
A guided day covers Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal. In between there is time in the bazaars for textiles and handicrafts.
You drive to Ranthambore, about 180 km from Jaipur. After checking in, the afternoon is free to rest and prepare for the safari.
The day is built around two safaris, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, in an open jeep or canter with a naturalist. In addition to tigers, the park is home to sambar, nilgai, hyenas, leopards and a great variety of birds.
Between the drives you can visit Ranthambore Fort, which stands within the park.
The morning is unhurried, and you may spend it exploring the rural surroundings of the park and talking to local people. You then drive to Bharatpur, about 5 hours away, and in the afternoon enter Keoladeo National Park for your first visit.
After an early walk or cycle-rickshaw ride in the bird sanctuary, you drive to Agra, about 55 km away. Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar’s sandstone capital, is visited on the way, and you can see Agra Fort in the afternoon and the Taj Mahal at sunset if the timing suits.
The Taj Mahal is visited around sunrise. After breakfast you drive to Delhi, about 4 hours away, and check in for the night.
A guided day takes in the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar and India Gate. The Red Fort is closed on Mondays, and your consultant arranges the order of the day accordingly.
After breakfast you are transferred to Delhi airport for your onward journey.

October to March is the best period for wildlife tours in Rajasthan, when the weather is pleasant and the parks are open. Ranthambore is closed during the monsoon, and April to June is hot, though some travellers choose it for wildlife viewing. Mornings in open jeeps can be cold in winter, so bring layers. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays and the Red Fort on Mondays.
